This is your chance to expand your collection of bears with your very own Border Bear!
We will start the workshops soon.
You will make a mohair-furred bear measuring about 37 cm tall and in the process, learn many tricks that will let your bear look like a real Border Bear!
The joints of the arms and head will be articulated using discs, bolts and lock nuts. The panels of your future bear will have been sewn for you in advance in order to save time. We’d like you to leave with a beautiful bear and we’ll make sure that is going to happen on that day.
The advantage of presewn panels is the certainty of a good shape, so you won’t risk any unwanted deformations. You’ll probably learn as I did, even after years of experience, this part is very time consuming.
But before we start assembling the bear, you will be extensively instructed on how to cut and sew the panels just in case you do want to repeat this process on your own.
During the day you will be treated with a varied lunch, tea and/or coffee with a little treat in the afternoon and in the evening, a tasty meal. We’re expecting your bear to be finalized in the evening, around 21:00. Then there is the opportunity to decorate your creation with a nice bow-tie or a bell for example.
On top of that, we’ll have some beautiful garments to dress up your bear if you like (not included in the base rate). The base rate does include all materials for making the bear (various colors of mohair available), actual size blueprints and detailed explanation and of course all drinks and food.
We’re aiming to get our next group to consist of no more than six people (each participant deserves our full attention!)
Currently available dates are:
We’ll start by making brother Flinth (boy) or sister Celeste (girl), you can see what he or she might look like in the pictures.
The workshop will take place in Baarle-Nassau (NL) and will start at 10:00 in the morning with your choice of delicious hot drink and a pastry.
The cost of the workshop will be 225 euros.
A modest collection of portraits gathered in this cute little booklet. As the title says, it contains the portraits of 34 sisters and some nice detail pictures for you to gawk at.

Thanks to taking many pictures, WordPress and Google’s image search we managed to get a bunch of the bear portraits back online. Note that many of them are actually second-choice pictures. But hey, now at least we can enjoy them!
Also, we decided it might be interesting to see what our adopted family members do nowadays. So to give you a taste, look at the message Stubby wrote!
With much regret we have to inform you that we have had some irreversible data loss on our website and picture database. This means that many of the portraits of our bears are lost… 🙁
We are working hard to ensure that you can visit our site as you might have done before.
Sorry, sorry, sorry!
Generally, bears are not very preoccupied with appearances. That is, if you’ve been watching documentaries about these beautiful animals, catching fish and scratching trees. By now, you know the Border Bears, a curious family in which each member has rather different ‘hobbies’ than their ‘natural’ counterparts.
And this 18cm small white mohaired jewel is an exceptional specimen. A precious example of not being like her remote, and may I say barbaric, cousins in the wild. She might just be cover story of the Border Bears’ self-imposed image.
Does she trod around on here gobelin footpads, bathing in luxury and looking in that mirror, claiming she is a jewel? A mere object of desire, to be an accessory?
Or is she actually smarter than that? Realizing how people actually see her, slightly mocking us by posing excactly how we want to see her. Mademoiselle Adorée might just play that game of being beautiful for us. Enjoying the fact that she is above all that.
We might never know, as she doesn’t really talk about it. Mle Adorée probably lives by the fact that a bear is not defined by its words, but its actions. Nevertheless, we probably enjoy and respect her one way or the other, acting or not.
Well done, mademoiselle, you really made us think here!

Even after some testing, we have not been able to reliably find the cause of this. But what we do know, is that the newsletter email might be ending up in your junk or spam box, due to some aggressive filtering by your provider.
So until we’ve found a proper solution to this problem, please bear with us and look in your deleted/spam/junk mail box!
Thank you for your understanding.
